Lately I have been spending a lot of time on developing a new brand. It is the first time in my career that I have faced this challenge or at least recognized the need to do it. What surprised me is that in the last two weeks I found 5-6 new, excellent articles on branding, but can remember few articles on the subject in the last seven years of online reading. Has branding all of a sudden become popular or is it that I am now paying attention to the subject. Obviously, it is the later, which prompts today's post.
There are probably 9 business topics that everybody should understand and/or be archiving good articles for future use. Trust me, at some point in your career, if successful, these are the subjects you need to understand well:
- Corproate culture
- Strategy
- Branding
- Product development and customer need
- Sales
- Public relations
- Capital raising
- Interviewing for hiring
- Leadership
I would add microeconomics but nobody writes about it. Start archiving good articles on these subjects. I recommend Evernote as the repository.
As soon as I organize my thoughts on branding I will share them in a post.
