Walgreens, not known as a premier retailer of new consumer electronics and computers, now has available a tablet computer at $99.00. This tablet runs Android and has a 7 inch screen. Walgreens is positioning it as a Web surfing device. The online ad is here.
I have had samples of an unbranded copy of this device for about six months. It's not an iPad, but it is a very usable device. If you use a lot of Google apps, the experience should be even better. The one thing I would have preferred is a higher resolution screen, but maybe I am spoiled by my MacBook. Also, remember with no Internet connectivity the device's functionality is reduced. Should be very suitable for class note taking for college students on a budget.
