We all think of our cell phones as emergency devices. Get in trouble and call for help. A story in Business Insider illustrates another use for the phone in an emergency. A high school basketball coach followed the CPR instructions on his iPhone app to resuscitate a student..and probably saved his life. As the coach pointed out, even with training in CPR you get rusty and the app reinforced his previous training.
Would be a nice social responsibility project if someone like J&J or Merck would develop a complete first aid app for all cell phone platforms and make it available for free.
One other point. Everybody should have a listing in their cell phone contacts titled ICE--In Case of Emergency. First responders are taught to look for this listing in case of an emergency and contact that person.
